My Nebraska Story is a project sponsored by the Hayes County Historical Society and the Hayes Center Senior Center to celebrate Nebraska’s 150th birthday. Each of us, from the very young to the not-so-young, has a story to share about Nebraska. Perhaps your story is an anecdote from your family history or how you survived Nebraska’s weather. Maybe you would share how and when your family came to Nebraska or Hayes County. Have you traveled around Nebraska? Share those memories. Tell about playing your favorite sport. Share a memory of a favorite relative or neighbor. Tell about your favorite pet. Your community activities and organizations could be listed. Describe what you like about living here. What jobs have you held while living in Nebraska and how has technology changed your career? The list of topics for My Nebraska Story is endless. Your story doesn’t have to be long, perhaps only a paragraph or a page, it just has to be shared. If you need someone to record your story, please call Don or Glynn Fagerstone (308-285-3259) and they will make those arrangements. Anyone with ties to Hayes County or this area is invited to share a story. We will collect all submitted stories and store them at the Hayes County Museum which is housed in the basement of the courthouse. Some of the stories may be printed in the Times Republican. Nebraska’s birthday is March 1, but stories may be submitted any time. Please send your story to My Nebraska Story, c/o Hayes Center Senior Center, PO Box 366, Hayes Center, Nebraska 69032, or you can e-mail your submission to ecdev@hayes.nacone.org.
