Hayes County takes pride in its excellent public hunting areas, perfect for hunting pheasant, mule deer, whitetail deer, turkey and more. Blackwood Hunting and Recreation also features hunting packages for pheasant, mule deer and Merrium turkey. Public hunting atlases, guide books, and permits are available in the County Clerk’s office, with the exception of turkey and deer permits. Hunters are responsible for obtaining those permits from the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission.
